The return of Jose Mourinho undoubtedly brings with it the lofty ambitions of trophies. ‘The special one’ played down Chelsea’s title chances, however they are many people’s favourites. Chelsea command some of the best young talent around, such as Eden Hazard, whilst also boasting some experienced gems, including Petr Cech and Branislav Ivanovic. The additions of Andre Schurrle and Marco Van Ginkel add more young attacking flair to a squad already overflowing with offensive talent. What is certain though is that Mourinho will base his team on hard work and a strong defence, so Chelsea fans should prepare for a lot of one-nils.
Key Player: Eden Hazard. The Belgian ace had an outstanding first season, and high things are expected from him again this year. With Juan Mata likely to fade under Mourinho, Hazard will be charged with creating chances to fire the Blues to the title.
One to Watch: Romelu Lukaku. After a superb loan spell at West Brom last season, Mourinho has said that Lukaku will be involved in the first team this year. Jose likes a striker in ‘the Drogba mould’, and Lukaku fits the bill as a strong, powerful goalscorer.
