Where to start with Newcastle? The arrival of Joe Kinnear as Director of Football angered supporters as it seemed that Mike Ashley was trying to undermine Alan Pardew. The other big story on Tyneside this summer was Papiss Cisse, who initially refused to wear to logo of Wonga.com. After the latest Tyneside circus act was completed, the club could finally focus on transfers, bringing in Loic Remy on loan from QPR. Last season could have been a fluke, with injuries and the Europa League depleting an already small squad; however another season of narrowly avoiding the drop may be in store for the Toon Army.
Key Player: Yohan Cabaye (or Yohan Kebab according to Joe Kinnear). The Frenchman had a successful season last year either side of a long injury lay off. His technical ability when it comes to dribbling and striking a ball is second to none and his set pieces are quality.
One to Watch: Davide Santon. The 22 year old cemented his place in the first team last season, making 31 appearances. His energy and pace can be a useful addition when attacking, and his defensive qualities are always improving.
