Norwich’s 11th place last season was a bit of a false result, as they won only 4 games since the turn of the year. Only Reading (179) and Stoke (165) had fewer shots on target last season than Norwich (203), so the acquisitions of Ricky Van Wolfswinkel, Gary Hooper and Nathan Redmond are a real statement of intent. Leroy Fer is another exciting prospect, whilst Martin Olsson and the permanent signing of Javier Garrido.
Key Player: Ricky Van Wolfswinkel. In March last year Norwich announced the signing of Ricky Van Wolfswinkel for £8.5m. With a consistent goal ratio of 1 goal every 2 games, Van Wolfswinkel’s strength and finishing will see him an instant success in the Premier League. Another promising sign for Norwich is that in Holland he is known as ‘HatRicky’ due to the amount of hat tricks he scored.
One to Watch: Nathan Redmond. The England Under-21 winger was a target for larger teams than Norwich; however his signing was a show of the progress that Norwich are making. Cutting in from either wing, his pace makes defenders sweat, and with Van Wolfswinkel and Hooper up front, Redmond could make several assists by the end of the year.
