Manchester City’s summer has been spent stockpiling English players rather than assembling a team to retake the title from Chelsea. The Blues have spent around £70m on Raheem Sterling, Fabian Delph and Patrick Roberts, whilst aging stars Yaya Toure and Vincent Kompany were just a few of the players that struggled to perform at the required level. With Edin Dzeko on his way to Roma, only injury-prone star Sergio Aguero and Wilfried Bony are left to get the goals. In David Silva, City have one of the best creative midfielders in Premier League, so whoever is up front will not lack chances. Perhaps to the surprise of many fans, City’s biggest miss will be the industry of James Milner, but Fabian Delph will look to plug that gap. The only one of the top six that City face in their opening games is Chelsea, so Manuel Pellegrini’s side will look to show their title credentials from the off.
Key Player: Sergio Aguero
One to Watch: Patrick Roberts
