Tottenham’s reliance on Harry Kane and Christian Erikson was almost their undoing last season, but they still managed to come fifth. Maurico Pochettino has strengthened the defence, who conceded the same amount of goals as relegated Burnley, with Toby Alderweirald, who impressed on loan at Southampton last season. Austria international Kevin Wimmer has also joined, whilst Kieran Trippier has been brought in from Burnley as an upgrade for Kyle Walker. Spurs have spent most of their summer trying to rid their squad of deadwood, with many of the players bought with the Gareth Bale money being offloaded. Tottenham need to bring in strikers, as Harry Kane looks like he will be their only senior striker at the club, with Adebayor and Soldado appearing to be surplus to requirements. One of the highlights of last season for Spurs was the emergence of Ryan Mason in centre midfield, and fans will hope that highly rated Deli Alli gets similar opportunities to shine this time out.
