West Ham have dispelled worries of the Europa League affecting their league form by getting knocked out before the season has even begun. New boss Slaven Bilic will be looking to improve the form of the side that won just two of their last twelve games last season. The defence has been strengthened by Juventus defender Angelo Ogbonna, which is a real coup for the Hammers, and Carl Jenkinson has rejoined on loan. Left back Aaron Cresswell signed a new contract at the end of last season to end speculation of a move away, and can again impress with his immaculate delivery. Dimitri Payet and Manuel Lanzini have been brought in to add creativity, and, I can’t believe I’m writing this, fill the hole left by Stewart Downing. Should Andy Carroll stay fit, the Hammers should have a strong front line. Diafra Sakho and Enner Valencia should prove prolific given the right service, but the level of creativity in the side will be a concern for Bilic.
